Cowboy Flavor Catering is a premier on-site BBQ catering company and Ambassador for the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce for Santa Maria Style BBQ. Billy Ruiz established Cowboy Flavor (formally Cowboy Caterin') in the early 1970's, and the business as well as his trademark handlebar mustache, has since grown into an internationally known company catering events from small intimate parties, to large events of well over 2,500 guests, stretching as far west as Japan and as far east to Long Island, New York. Billy, being an 8th generation Californian, and deeply influenced by the early California Vaquero traditions as a boy, including ranch brandings, weddings and birthdays, blended his affection for those old traditions with his enjoyment of BBQing. Besides the Traditional Ranch Style BBQ, Billy and his wife Sue, who was raised in The Land of Enchantment, along with her love for the taste of Santa Fe and Taos, blended them together with the Old California Mission flavors for the unique experience they call California Simpatico. Wine Tasting fare for the more whimsical palate is also on their menu. With two full portable kitchens and 2 beautiful BBQ pits, they can provide a menu of your choice and come to your location and prepare it fresh and on site. Billy and Sue starred in their own cooking show on national television, Cowboy Flavor, before moving on to other opportunities.
