Deborah Kyle Hintergardt
Art by DKH
Deborah Kyle Hintergardt was born in rural Illinois and was raised on a 108-acre grain farm. This is where her love for all things country originated. Her mother was a singer and also an artist working in oils, acrylics, watercolor, and china painting. Deborah would sit and watch her mother and began experimenting with many of those mediums as well. In 1976, Deborah left the farm to pursue a singing career receiving both a B.A. and a M.M. in vocal performance. She spent 3 years in Rhode Island before marrying and living in Los Angeles for 13 years. The desire for rural life motivated her to find an outlet for self-expression and a venue for experiencing the country life at least in spirit. She began painting her vibrantly colored country landscapes and then in November of 2004 she actually moved to the landscape of her dreams, the central coast, where she now happily resides in Atascadero where she finds a plethora of inspiration for her acrylic paintings and graphite drawings. For Deborah, each painting is an experiment, an adventure, an opportunity to learn, and an opportunity to bring enjoyment to herself and to others.
