Personalities
Julie Parker
Owner, PasoJules
Julie was born and raised on a farm in rural Kansas and went to Kansas State University on an art scholarship. After graduating with a degree in Marketing, she spent a few years in Kansas City before returning to her hometown. There she was the Curriculum and Test Coordinator for the local school district for nearly 20 years before moving to Paso Robles in 2012. Julie and her husband David first visited Moonstone Beach in Cambria, CA on vacation in 2006. She had been a rock-hound all of her life and thoroughly enjoyed looking at the beautiful, colorful stones on Moonstone Beach. She began collecting them at that time, hoping someday to turn them into something special!
Recently Julie began a new venture and made her dream of being a full-time jewelry designer and artist come true. Her business, PasoJules is a platform to sell her drawings & jewelry. Her jewelry is an ornate representation of the Central Coast and her desire is to send a little piece of the Central Coast home with everyone. She finds every stone that she uses in her jewelry on Moonstone Beach in Cambria. She finds jade, jasper, and agates and well as the beautiful quartzite stones known locally as Moonstones. After finding her stones, she spends 7-8 weeks polishing them into shiny, beautiful jewels. She uses only high quality wire & settings in her jewelry. The rock dictates the design of her wrapping or drilling. No two stones are the same, thus each piece of jewelry is as unique as the stone itself.
In addition to making jewelry, Julie is also an artist, specializing in colored pencil and charcoal. Her style is traditional in that she tries to make each drawing look as life-like as possible. At this point, she’s selling only original drawings and does not have prints available.
In her spare time, Julie & her husband enjoy their four-legged kids, hiking, and wine tasting. They are huge proponents of Paso Robles and all of San Luis Obispo County. “We live where others vacation” is her favorite slogan! Julie is expanding her jewelry into a few shops on the central coast and invites you to visit her website at www.pasojules.com to see her complete inventory of art & jewelry!
