Laure Carlisle

Laure Carlisle grew up in Vista, CA just north of San Diego. She and her husband moved to Paso Robles about ten years ago.

Laure has a B.A. and M.A, in art from San Diego State University. She has a California teaching credential and taught high school art in Poway, CA for 16 years. She left teaching to sell her work wholesale to galleries by participating in the American Craft Council shows and the Buyers Market of American Crafts. Laure has also licensed her designs to many companies for use on products such as dinnerware, gift bags, wall paper and even a paint by number learn to paint kit!

Laure’s studio is currently located at ärt/ Gallery, Studios and Classes in Atascadero, a joint venture with 2 other artists. Laure works, displays her art and teaches adult classes at the studio.

Laure is the Art Liaison to the Main Street Association in Paso Robles and designs the posters for both the Lavender and Olive Festivals. She is a signature member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters and Central Coast Watercolor Society. She is also a member of the National Watercolor Society, and the California Watercolor Association. Laure has studied painting with Judy Betts, Dale Laitenan, Christopher Shink, Mike Bailey, Betsy Dillard-Stroud, Pat Dews, and Virginia Cobb. Laure’s work has been included in numerous national and international exhibitions and is in many corporate and private art collections.

Laure’s philosophy of art would be do what you love and try as many things as possible! She often says “I don’t know what drives me to create but I do know that I am happiest when creating something! Creating is as much a part of me as breathing!”
