Director of Programs and Husbandry, Central Coast Aquarium

Lesley Stein is the Director of Programs and Husbandry at the Central Coast Aquarium in Avila Beach. She runs and develops all the school programs, summer camps, and over sees the aquaristing department. Lesley began as the Lead Aquarist at the Central Coast Aquarium, which means she took care of all the animals and was in charge of collecting the animals as well. As seen in her photo, she obtained the first Giant Pacific Octopus for the Central Coast Aquarium, with the help from a local Morro Bay fisherman!

Now Lesley primarily teaches school programs during the school year and runs marine science summer camps during the summer. She graduated from Cal Poly with a BS in Environmental Science and is completing her Master’s degree in Biology. During her Master’s Lesley taught a variety of different labs at Cal Poly, now she focuses her teaching on her favorite topic: Marine Biology. In her spare time Lesley enjoys SCUBA diving, surfing, hiking, rock climbing, reading and learning about marine life, basically involving the outdoors and the ocean.
