Moonshiner Collective
September 27, The Main Event
Moonshiner Collective is an Indie Rock, Folk, and Americana based 4 piece band from San Luis Obispo, CA.
Moonshiner Collective's music intends to cut through the chaos and noise of modern life and beckons the listener to let go for a moment. The band consists of singer/guitarist Dan Curcio, violinist/keys/vocalist Daniel Cimo, bassist/multiinstrumentalist/vocalist Vince Cimo, and drummer Ryan House. The eclectic blend of folk rock instrumentation and three part vocal harmonies combines contemplative lyrics with a foot stomping, high energy, California beach town influenced sound. It is good time music with a passionate depth. The music's unifying positivity bridges gaps in generations and genres; with a sound and message that draws fans of The Avett Brothers, Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Counting Crows, The Wood Brothers, Van Morrison, and Mumford and Sons, but is also a style entirely its own.
For several transformative years, singersongwriter Dan Curcio lived in a yurt high on a hill in a lush green valley in Cayucos, California. With a panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, a woodburning stove, and a small space for some recording gear, the dwelling felt far removed from civilization. The yurt and its surrounding beauty created a collective of sorts: a place where friends and ramblin’ musician types came together to drink whiskey, stare up at the stars, and play music. These nights spent with friends and traveling musicians with the moon and bonfire offering light for the instruments led Curcio, formerly of San Luis Obispo band Still Time, to create this new group with an emphasis on family and connectedness.
The band members want their listeners to feel as much a part of their musical message and mission as they do. “We hope our music can be a source of genuine positivity and fun that connects people of all ages and from all walks of life.” says Curcio. "We want our shows to feel like a family celebration or a high energy version of the best bonfire music experience you've ever had." The band’s fiery and diverse live show has led them to several sold out shows at SLO Brew, a headlining show at Vina Robles Ampitheatre, and successful tours throughout California since their inception in 2014. With a new album called “Consequential Campers” set for release in early 2016, Moonshiner Collective's impassioned music is building a loyal grassroots following that transcends generations, cultural backgrounds, and social trends.
