Nathan Cardella

Nathan Cardella

Winemaker & Vineyard Manager, Cardella Winery

Nathan graduated from Fresno State University with a degree in Enology in 2004 and has been producing estate wines from his family’s vineyards ever since. Prior to completing college Nathan was granted Italian citizenship. He spent two years playing professional baseball in northern Italy. During his time spent in Italy Nathan learned that not only is wine a way of life for Italians but is also something that provides a great source of pride for the communities in which the wines are produced. Upon returning from Italy to finish his degree Nathan made it a priority to remain on the family vineyard, in west Fresno County. His goal was to transform his high yielding vineyards from producing standard quality fruit, into vineyards that could produce prime quality fruit. This would allow for the production of high quality wines the people of the San Joaquin Valley could celebrate. Over the last ten years Cardella Winery has built a brand that exudes superior quality and value with several wines rated above 90 points by critics. Nathan’s passion for making wine with San Joaquin Valley fruit has led to other endeavors including consulting and custom crushing for several clients locally. Nathan has also collaborated with Fresno State University on numerous experimental winemaking projects and is currently a board member on the San Joaquin Valley Winegrowers Association. In 2010, Nathan married Danielle and has since had two wonderful children Francesco and Alessia. They are the fifth generation of Cardella’s in the great San Joaquin Valley.
